The new IRSOC Blog is a platform for IR students to showcase their writing, and share their experiences as an IR student at U of T! We hope to build a resource for prospective students to find out what the IR program is really like beyond descriptions in the Course Calendar and on the U of T website.

On a rolling basis, we accept guest submissions from students enrolled in the International Relations program at St. George Campus, or first year students planning to enrol in the International Relations program in 2022.

Click here to pitch an article!

Pitches may include, but are not limited to:

  • reflective pieces and op-eds related to IR student life (or more broadly, life at U of T)
  • pieces sharing extra-curricular, study abroad, work-study, internship, IR-related research experiences
  • film/TV reviews
  • course guides
  • event reports
  • IR-related humour, memes

We are NOT accepting submissions for academic/journalistic work related to IR.

Pitching to us is very simple:

  1. Write a short paragraph explaining your idea, intended format and length (most will be under 400 words)
  2. Include a 1-3 page writing sample (may be academic or non-academic)

DO NOT submit a complete article. You may include multiple pitches, if you wish. A member of the IRSOC Communications team will be in touch shortly after the deadline if your pitch is successful.
